Strategic Warehousing Receives GMP Certification

Receiving a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certificate is an important part of a company’s ability to store, handle, and ship food as well as other perishables anywhere in the United States. At Strategic Warehousing, we’re proud to announce that we have just finished our GMP for warehouse and distribution certification in the Minneapolis, MN, area. GMP is a system that has been designed to help make sure that products are accurately and consistently produced and controlled in accordance with the quality standards that have been set. This certificate covers all aspects of the industry, including production, equipment, training, and personal hygiene of staff.

In pursuing a GMP for warehouse and distribution, a company must complete a few steps before it can officially receive its GMP certificate.

  • Audit. First, a separate auditing company must start with a review of the company’s storage operations. This includes documentation and a facility walkthrough.
  • Deliberation. After the review has been completed, the auditing company takes all of the information that has been gathered, including information about the conditions and practices of the company and interviews with its staff. The auditing company then deliberates on which aspects fit within the guidelines and which must be remediated to meet the GMP standards.
  • Remediation. After the company has been reviewed and all parts and practices have been looked over, it is given scorecards for all functions that involve their GMP certification. Next, if any inconsistencies are found, the company makes a plan to remediate any deficiencies or deviations that are uncovered during the audit.
  • Final Review. Finally, following remediation, the company will be reviewed once more to ensure that all processes are up to the standards required and that any remediation needed has been completed successfully.

Within this process of auditing required to get the GMP, Strategic Warehousing also underwent training to ensure our employees were able to meet the standards. Some of the education we underwent included 16 hours of online training and detailed documentation of our protocols and procedures for food safety systems regarding our company policy and mission statement. We have also increased the responsibilities required by our employees and have adjusted the job descriptions of the affected jobs to match the additional duties required.

We at Strategic Warehousing are very proud of our GMP certificate and look forward to better serving our customers. Whether it be with food or other perishable products, we are always excited to work with our next customers to tackle their shipping and warehousing needs in the Minneapolis, MN, area.

We implement the freight consolidation system by carefully planned cross-docking to help save space, time, and money. We also use case-picked, shrink-wrapped, and fast turnaround shipping to increase space on every truck, which in turn, helps save money

Parcel Shipment with Individualized Attention

Parcel shipment in St. Paul, MN, does not need to be complicated, elaborate, or confusing. Your primary focus is to get your product from your distribution center to your client. However, there are so many options to choose from when trying to decide how to ship your goods, and you might be wondering if there’s any advantage to switching from less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping to parcel shipping. At Strategic Warehousing, we know that your bottom line is important, and that is why we are pleased to offer the most comprehensive parcel shipment options in St. Paul, MN.

Differences between LTL and parcel shipment: Let’s face it—LTL shipping is expensive. To drive profits, it only makes sense to use a parcel shipment service. But the old rule that packages less than 150 pounds are designed as “parcels” is evolving, and with it, so too are your shipping choices. Now, even if a package weighs more than 150 pounds, it is possible that it can be shipped as a parcel shipment. However, what is the difference between LTL and parcel shipment and how do you know if you qualify?

In the past, parcel shipment focused on packages that could easily be lifted by the average person without the need for assistance. That is one reason why the costs to ship are lower. Nevertheless, as pricing models for parcels continue to grow to allow small package carriers to maintain a competitive advantage, parcel shipment options continue to develop and progress.

In St. Paul, MN, we know that you have choices for your shipment options. We also know that it can be challenging to evaluate the shipping criteria to determine if your products qualify. One of the most important and progressive distinctions is that parcels usually weigh more and are denser than other packages. Think about the difference between shipping a laptop and shipping a throw pillow. Both might weigh the same, but the pillow is going to take up a lot more room. That is where parcel shipment options become so lucrative.

We know that the benefits of individualized shipping are inherently dependent on the package risk. That means smaller packages can receive more personalized individual attention than if you shipped with less-than-truckload options. Just as reassuring is that an increased number of checkpoints means that the package is going to be identified if it is off-track for delivery quickly. In an era of on-demand delivery, this advantage is very reassuring.

We know you have choices for the best shipping teams in St. Paul, MN. When you are ready to find out how our services can make your shipment process simple and easy, give us a call today at (651) 405-1920.

In fact, almost half of all customers say they won’t shop with retailers following a negative fulfillment experience. Now more than ever, you owe it to yourself and your clients to ensure that you prevent that from happening.

The Many Benefits of Robust Warehouse Management Systems

Busy warehouses are hubs where massive amounts of products flow through on a daily basis. Warehouses that struggle with inventory counts or that are always trying to play catch-up with new rules and regulations are going to struggle to retain clients and to make sure items are shipped on time.

The importance of a powerful warehouse management system can’t be understated. These systems are able to seamlessly help manage inventory and help a warehouse team stay on top of orders.

At Strategic Warehousing, we use the Logimax inventory control system and provide an online portal where customers can view their inventory and shipping details.

We believe that cutting-edge technology for clients and our warehouse team benefits everyone in the St. Paul, MN, area.

Here are a few key benefits that a powerful warehouse management system offers.

  • Smooths Out Hiccups with Inventory Management: A good warehouse management system gives a warehouse team the ability to track each and every product inside the building in real-time. This lets wholesalers understand what items need to be restocked and gives customers peace of mind that their products are processed and shipped on time.
  • Creates a Concrete Tracking Chain: Products that get lost while being processed and shipped will lead to angry customers. A management system automates working assignments and shipping pathways to make it easier to track where a shipment is. Additionally, management systems will also boost picking accuracy, which reduces the chances of incorrect orders.
  • Boosts Sales and Profits: A good warehouse management system is a strong return on investment. The ability to accurately ship more products is going to lead to happy customers, opening up chances for the warehouse’s revenue to increase. The ability to move products through a warehouse at optimal speed also helps worker productivity since employees don’t have to spend as much time checking other’s work or fixing errors.
  • Easily Integrates with Other Business Systems: Good warehouse management systems are able to easily integrate with other business software. This helps warehouses scale up without having to spend money on replacing software and then having to retrain employees.

The Strategic Warehousing team utilizes some of the best warehouse management systems technology out on the market today. We believe investing in cutting-edge programs and software is beneficial for both our customers and staffers by ensuring that products are shipped on time.

How to Come Up with a Smart Fulfillment Logistics Strategy

Customer fulfillment strategies are an integral part of ensuring products reach buyers in a swift and efficient manner. In a world where technology continues to improve on a daily basis, there’s no shortage of fulfillment logistics strategies for companies in the Minneapolis, MN, area to take advantage of.

Many businesses choose to let a warehouse serve as the bulk of a fulfillment strategy, since companies who are experts in the field are able to handle packaging, distribution, and data analysis of shipped products.

At Strategic Warehousing, our team stands prepared to utilize the Logimax real-time inventory control system to customize a fulfillment logistics plan that’s tailored for companies large and small.

Relying on our fulfillment infrastructure means your business doesn’t have to invest in warehousing and additional employees to fulfill items.

A few factors companies should look for when choosing a fulfillment partner include:

  • Warehouse Information: Warehouses that are too small for your operations are not going to allow you to scale. Additionally, a warehouse that’s far from major shipping routes (roads, airports, ports) is going to drive up costs and could lead to product delays. At Strategic Warehousing, we’ve been trusted as the leading warehouse provider for more than 30 years due to our extensive infrastructure and location near major shipping arteries.
  • Technological Capabilities: Warehouses that fail to use up-to-date logistical software can hamper your businesses’ potential, especially during peak seasons where it’s vitally important to manage and ship a large amount of orders in a short time. Our inventory control software allows us to optimize storage space and craft customized logistical processes to help companies save time and money on shipments. We also utilize a state-of-the-art management system called Logimation to manage shipments from initial order all the way to delivery.

Strategic Warehousing is ready to help if you’re struggling to come up with an effective fulfillment logistics plan for your company in the Minneapolis, MN, area.
